Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do to keep it safe. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What we collect

Only what you give us while using the site:

• Your account: your name, email address, optional WhatsApp number, and a one-way hash of your password — never the password itself.
• Your orders and quote requests: what you tell us about your book (title, genre, word count, what you need, deadline, budget), the prices, discounts and fees on each order, and the order’s history.
• Files you upload, such as your manuscript, and the files we deliver to you.
• Messages in your orders, quote conversations and support conversations, and any reviews you leave.
• Enquiries sent through the contact form, including how you heard about us if you answer that optional question.
• Basic technical data such as your IP address, used to keep you signed in securely and to limit spam and abuse.

Payments are taken by Flutterwave on its own secure checkout; we receive a confirmation of the amount, the method and a transaction reference, and never your card or bank details.

How your manuscript is handled

Files are stored privately and are not reachable from the public internet. Every download is checked against your order: only you, the specialist assigned to your order and the Marlowe team can open them — there is no public link, and no link that works without being signed in.

We do not publish, share, sell or reuse any part of your work, and we do not use it to train anything. Nothing about your book appears in our portfolio or our reviews without your written permission.

Who sees it

The people who run the agency, and the specialist considering or doing your project. A specialist sees your first name and initial, your brief, your files and your order messages — never your email, phone number or payment details. We do not send your manuscript to subcontractors outside the team without telling you first.

In a private inbox with a specialist, messages that contain an email address, a phone number or payment details are not delivered; we keep them so the team can review what happened. The team can read every private inbox.

Services that help us run the site

These companies process data for us, only to provide their service:

• Vercel hosts the website and stores uploaded files in private storage (United States).
• Neon hosts our database (United States).
• Flutterwave takes payments and refunds.
• Resend sends our emails, such as order updates.
• Anthropic provides an AI tool our team can use to draft a reply to a message. When it is used, the order or enquiry details and the messages in that conversation are sent to it to write a draft; a person always reads and edits the draft before anything is sent to you. It also reads each message written in a private inbox, with the few messages before it, to flag attempts to move work or payment off Marlowe for our team to review; it never blocks or changes a message on its own. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models. Your manuscript files are never sent to it.

Where it is kept

Our database and file storage are hosted in the United States. The agency operates from Nigeria, so your information is also accessed from there. By using the site you accept that your information crosses borders in this way.

How long we keep things

Account, order and payment records are kept for as long as your account is open and afterwards for as long as we need them for accounting and legal reasons. Enquiries are kept while there is a reasonable prospect of working together. Files are deleted on request at any time — including from people who never became clients. Uploads that were never attached to an order or enquiry are deleted automatically after a day.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted — including your manuscript and your enquiry. Email agencymarlowe@gmail.com from the address you contacted us with, and we will confirm when it is done.

You do not need a reason, and asking will not affect how we treat you if you come back later.
