These terms cover how Marlowe works with authors: what we agree to do, what you keep, and what happens if something goes wrong. They apply from the moment you accept a written quote from us.

Getting in touch is not a commitment

Sending an enquiry, describing your book, or sharing a sample costs you nothing and commits you to nothing. We will read it, tell you honestly what we think your book needs, and quote for it if we can help. You are free to walk away at any point before you accept a quote, and no explanation is required.

How work is agreed

There is no checkout on this website. Every project is quoted individually after we have read what you sent. A quote states the scope, the price, the delivery date, how many revisions are included and how payment is split.

An agreement exists only once you accept that quote in writing. Until then nothing is owed by either of us. Where a quote and these terms disagree, the quote wins — it describes your specific project, and this page describes the general case.

Your book stays yours

You keep full copyright and every publishing right in your work. Nothing we do gives Marlowe any claim over your book, your characters, your ideas, or your earnings from them.

Materials we create for you — cover artwork, formatted interior files, and similar — become yours once the work is paid for in full. We keep no right to resell or reuse them.

Confidentiality

Your manuscript is treated as confidential. It is shared only with the specialists working on your project, and it is never sold, published, shown to anyone else, or used to train anything.

Nothing about your book appears in our portfolio, our reviews, or our marketing without your written permission — and you may withdraw that permission later, in which case we take it down.

What you provide

You confirm that the work you send us is yours to send: that you wrote it or hold the rights to it, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s copyright. We rely on that, and we cannot check it for you.

Delivery times are quoted in business days and start once we have everything we need from you. If we are waiting on files or answers, the clock pauses — and we will tell you it has, rather than letting a deadline pass quietly.

Revisions and changes of direction

The revisions included are stated in your quote, and they exist to get the agreed work right. Work substantially outside the agreed scope — a rewritten manuscript after a line edit has begun, a fresh cover concept after one was approved — is new work, quoted separately. We will always say so before doing any of it, never afterwards.

Payment

Payment is by invoice, on the terms set out in your quote. Larger projects are usually split between a deposit and a balance on delivery. We do not store card details, and no payment is taken through this website.

Cancelling

You may cancel at any time by telling us. What happens next depends on how far the work has got, and your quote sets that out before you commit to anything: broadly, work not yet started is refunded, work in progress is charged for the part completed, and work already delivered and accepted is not refundable.

We may also decline or stop a project — if it turns out to be outside what we can do well, or if the working relationship is not viable. In that case you pay only for work completed, and you receive whatever has been done so far.

If something goes wrong

Tell us. Most problems are a misunderstanding about scope and are fixed by a conversation and a revision. Where we have genuinely got something wrong, we will put it right or refund the part that was not delivered.

Our liability for any project is limited to the amount you paid us for it. We are not liable for lost sales, lost royalties, missed launch dates, or other indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee sales, rankings, reviews, awards, or acceptance by any retailer, agent or publisher. Nobody can, and anyone who says otherwise is guessing with your money.

Amazon KDP

Marlowe is an independent agency and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Amazon or Kindle Direct Publishing. Publishing is performed on your own Amazon KDP account, and Amazon pays royalties directly to you. Amazon’s review times, category decisions and account actions are outside our control.

Changes to these terms

We may update this page as the agency changes. The terms that apply to your project are the ones in force when you accepted your quote — changes here do not alter an agreement already made.

Governing law

Marlowe Agency operates from Nigeria, and these terms are governed by Nigerian law. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove rights you have under the law of the country you live in.
